Fourth Session Rick Holland
Jonathan Edwards: A Life Of No Regrets - Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8
Resolution #2 - "Resolved, to be continually endeavoring to find out some new contrivance and invention to promote the aforementioned things."
Pastor Rick gave a little background on King Solomon.
Resolution #17 - "Resolved, that I will live so, as I shall wish I had done when I come to die."
We Should Resolve to Redeem (enjoy) the Prime of our Life.
Life is described in verse 7 as sweet and good.
In verse 9 God commands us to love life and enjoy it.
There is a BUT though in that verse.
"Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things."
You need to pursue your desires within the boundaries God has set up.
Resolution #52 - "I frequently hear persons in old age, say how they would live, if they were to live their lives over again: Resolved, that I will live just so as I can think I shall wish I had done, supposing I live to old age."
Resolution #9 - "Resolved, to think much on all occasions of my own dying, and of the common circumstances which attend death."

What a great first day of the Focus Conference. Lifeway's Ridgecrest Conference Center is a perfect place to meet and the people have been more than helpful. So far we have had great times of worship through song and sessions from Rick Holland and Peter Hubbard. We also had a Shane and Shane Concert, which was an amazing time of music that exalted Christ.
The First Session
The first session Rick Holland preached a message entitled Sinners In The Pierced Hands Of An Angry God. He used Jonathan Edwards famous message as a bridge to his messege today. Romans 5:6-11 was today's text. After an introduction of some background on Edward's famous message, Pastor Rick asked this question-What is so great about the Gospel?
He gave us five reasons why the Gospel is Great.
1. The Gospel satisfies the greatest need. (v.6)
2. The Gospel demonstrates the greatest love. (v.7-8
3. The Gospel extinguishes the greatest threat. (v.9)
We are saved from the wrath of God.
4. The Gospel mediates the greatest conflict. (v. 10)
It is between us and God.
5. The Gospel provokes the greatest response. (v. 11)
The Second Session
The second session Peter Hubbard preached on Funneling Glory. Using Proverbs 25:27 as his text. In his introduction he talked about the All About Me syndrome! He showed a comedians video as an example of this problem.
What is glory? Hebrew word meaning heaviness, weightiness, and significant
